How expensive is a real Zippo?
The price of a genuine Zippo lighter can vary depending on several factors, such as the model, design, any special features and where you buy it. In general, you can expect the price of a new, standard Zippo lighter to be somewhere between $20 and $50.
There are also special editions, collectibles and limited edition models that can be significantly more expensive. These can cost hundreds of dollars depending on their rarity and popularity among collectors.
The History of Zippo
The Zippo lighter was first introduced in 1932 by George G. Blaisdell in Bradford, Pennsylvania, United States. Blaisdell was inspired by an Austrian lighter with a similar design, but he wanted to create an improved version that would be easier to use and more durable. He designed the Zippo with a metal body and a hinged lid, making it easy to open and ignite with one hand.
The name "Zippo" is derived from the word "zipper", which was a popular word at the time that referred to things that were easy to open. The first Zippo lighters sold for $1.95 each.
During World War II, the Zippo lighter became an iconic symbol among American soldiers due to its reliability and durability. After the war, the popularity of the Zippo lighter continued to grow, both as a practical tool and a symbol of style and self-expression.
Since its founding, Zippo has released numerous designs and collections, including limited editions, artistic designs and collaborations with other brands and artists. The Zippo lighter has become an iconic and timeless product, loved by collectors all over the world.
